Tom Holland Is Now the Highest-Grossing Actor in Film History

At 30, Tom Holland has added another distinction to an already franchise-heavy career: He is now the highest-grossing actor in film history. The movies in which he has played a leading or significant role have earned more than $15.5 billion worldwide, moving him ahead of Zoe Saldaña’s $15.47 billion total.

That shift came during an unusually successful summer for the actor. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has earned approximately $1.68 billion worldwide, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed $2.45 billion. The films played in theaters simultaneously, placing Holland at the center of two of 2026’s largest releases. Spider-Man: Brand New Day also overtook Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the highest-grossing film in North American history. It is the fourth standalone Spider-Man film led by Holland and the title that ultimately pushed his career total past Saldaña’s.

Holland reaches the top of the ranking with 24 films, which have earned an average of nearly $650 million each. Saldaña’s total is drawn from 33 films, while Scarlett Johansson’s is based on 36. The methodology is relatively narrow. Only films in which an actor plays a leading or significant role are included, and their earnings are not adjusted for inflation. A broader count that incorporated supporting roles and cameos would produce a different leader.

Still, Holland’s position reflects the unusual commercial scale of his career. The four Spider-Man films make up the largest share of his total, alongside Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. With The Odyssey, his box-office record now extends beyond the Marvel films that first made him a global star.
