Kim Kardashian Debuts Her Law Roach Era in Archival Saint Laurent

Law Roach has added Kim Kardashian to his client list. The stylist confirmed the news after dressing Kardashian for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art’s opening-night celebration in Los Angeles on September 19, captioning her look simply: “New client.”

Kardashian wore an archival Saint Laurent gown from Tom Ford’s Fall 2004 ready-to-wear collection.

Presented in Paris in March 2004, the collection was among Ford’s final statements at Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche. Designer took inspiration from Yves Saint Laurent’s 1977 Chinese collection and ended the show with a series of heavily sequined evening dresses. He left both Saint Laurent and Gucci later that year.

Archival fashion is familiar territory for Roach. Before establishing himself as a celebrity stylist, he ran Deliciously Vintage in Chicago, and vintage pieces became an important part of his early work with Zendaya. “Doing vintage requires a little bit more work and creativity,” he said in 2022. That year, the CFDA also presented him with its inaugural Stylist Award.

Roach announced in 2023 that he was stepping away from celebrity styling, although he continued working with Zendaya and later took on selected styling projects. Kardashian is now among his clients.

Museum of Narrative Art

The event celebrated the opening of George Lucas and Mellody Hobson’s Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Exposition Park. Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD, the 300,000-square-foot museum is dedicated to visual storytelling across painting, illustration, comics, photography and film. The September 19 celebration took place ahead of the museum’s public opening on September 22.
