KEBURIA SS27 Opens With a Political Statement

KEBURIA brought an explicit political message to the opening day of London Fashion Week. At the label’s Spring/Summer 2027 show on September 17, the first model walked the runway carrying a guitar on his back, with “Hope you burn Putin” painted across it in red. For Georgian designer George Keburia, protest was part of the opening look.

Inside a warehouse space at the Truman Brewery, a techno soundtrack by Salome Gvetadze accompanied a collection that played with the proportions of familiar clothes. Shoulders were pronounced, collars architectural and pockets oversized, while shorts were cut high on the thigh. Fitted vests emphasized the body; looser, dancewear-influenced pieces allowed for movement.

Men’s looks appeared within the collection for the first time, sharing the same approach to tailoring, proportion and decoration.

British countryside dress supplied much of the vocabulary. Equestrian references and Western details appeared alongside custom jacquards, washed canvas, camouflage and metallic tweed. Tapestry dresses and skirts depicted horses and mallards, bringing pastoral imagery into the collection. A palette of black, cream, khaki and tobacco was interrupted by red, turquoise and metallic finishes.

The styling gave those references a less formal character. Rugby shirts were tied around waists, bags were carried open, and knee socks accompanied heeled Derby shoes in black, white and glittering finishes. Fringe fell from skirts and bags, introducing movement around the structured tailoring. Embellished nautical motifs extended the collection’s decorative, theatrical side.

The label remains based in Tbilisi, where it has previously closed its store during police dispersals to protect employees. “Showing abroad allows us to develop the business while keeping Georgian creativity visible internationally,” Keburia said.
