Emmys 2026: Widow’s Bay Sets Comedy Record With 14 Wins

Widow’s Bay led the 2026 Emmy Awards with 14 wins, setting a record for the most awards won by a comedy series in a single year. The series collected eight trophies at the Creative Arts Emmys and added six at the main ceremony, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards took place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, honoring television programming released between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026.

 Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay made her Emmy hosting debut, becoming the first woman in 15 years to host the ceremony solo.

Matthew Rhys won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance in Widow’s Bay. Co-stars Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn took the supporting actor and actress awards, respectively. The series also earned Emmys for cinematography and original music composition.

Rhys secured a second acting award for The Beast in Me, winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his portrayal of real estate magnate Nile Jarvis.

In drama, The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series for the second consecutive year.
